Pactola Lake Tea Pot
Pactola Lake Teapot
2008
Sterling silver, oxidized and rhodium plated
Nylon thread, sequins, glass beads
Labradorite slab
App. 3.5”x5”x7”
The mountain scene and lake I visited during a cross-country road trip in 2007 was the inspiration for this teapot. I acquired a slab of labradorite during the trip, and made sense to make something out of it related to the trip.
The bottom of the teapot refers to the high-range of the Rocky Mountains and the water underneath the lake. The top of the teapot is the serene scene on the lake itself, with the reflection on the labradorite water.
Entirely hand-formed and fabricated from sterling silver sheet and wire. Oxidized and drilled with tiny holes to accept hand-stitched glass beads and sequins. Details on top were also created from sterling silver sheet and wire, then rhodium plated for anti-tarnish finish.
